Thrisha

Thrisha Krishnan is a famous South Indian film actress who was born on 04-05-1983 as the daughter of Sri Krishna and Smt Uma Krishna. Ancestors of Trisha’s father and mother are Keralites and they hailed from Palakkad. Her schooling was at Sacred Heart School in Church Park, Chennai. She did her B.B.A at the Ethiraj  College f Women’s College, Chennai. After doing her degree she ventured into modeling and appeared in several commercials in television channels. She was selected as Miss Salem and subsequently she became Miss Madras in the year 1999. In the year 2001, she won the coveted title of Miss India. She also won Beautiful Smile award in the above pageant.

She first acted in a supporting role in the film ‘Jodi’ in the year 1999. Her first film in which she acted the lead role was in the film named ‘LesaLesa’ directed by Priyadarsan. In the year 2003 she acted in a Musical hit  ‘Enaku 20 Unaku 18,for which music was composed by A.R.Rahman. But release of these projects was delayed due to some reasons. Her first released film is ‘MounamPesiyadhe’ a film by Ameer.  This film was successful in the box office at a moderate level. Her second project was ‘Manasellam’ in which her acting received much critical acclaim, but the film went unnoticed.

She got many offers and bid budget pictures during this period and her debut film ‘LesaLesa” was released during this period.

The musical romantic film ‘Summer in Bethlehem” fetched good reviews and support from critics and general public. The earlier film named ‘Enaku 20 unaku 18 was released around this time and it became an instant hit.

In the year 2004, she acted in her first Telugu film named ‘Varsham’ which made her an overnight sensation and her performance as a middle class woman was very much appreciated by  the critics. This was Thrisha’s biggest commercially successful movie. Then came Mani Ratnam’s ‘AyuthaEzhuthu which consisted of an ensemble cast including Madhavan,Surya and Siddharth. Although this film received much critical acclaim, it did not become successful in the box office and Thrisha was overshasowed by the three main lead male actors.

In the next two years Trisha had twelve releases, but most of them except one were not in leading roles. Her second Telugu film was Prabhu Dev’s   debut directorial film ‘Nenoddnatna’ in which she  co-stared with Siddarth. This film was very successful and it earned three best actress awards for her which included her first Nandi award and her  second film fare award.

Her later film ‘Asthi’ in which Ajith Kumar and Vijay co-starred with her,  became a box office failure and it did not get any support from film critics also. ‘Pournami’ another Prabhu Deva’s film became a box office hit. Her single Tamil film in the year 2006, ‘Unakkum Enakkum’ which was the remake did very well and became a box office hit. Her Telegu film ‘Stalin’ with Chiranjeevi and ‘Sainikudt’ with Mahesh Babu were released at about this time. Both were failures in box office and did not get any critic’s acclaim also.

The year 2009, saw some of her best films unfolding. The period from 2010 to 2013 were her best years in which she not only acted in movies, but also got involved in social activities like protection of stray dogs. She became the brand ambassador of Fanta India replacing Rani Mukerjee. She also became the brand ambassador of Scooty Pep+, Vivel Di Wills etc.

Trisha lives in Chennai with her parents. She is very fond of her mother and acknowledges her as the pillar of all her strength. She got engaged to VarunManian on 23-01-2015 and this was confirmed on 01-05-2105. But due to some personal problems this engagement was cancelled and the marriage did not take place.
